Chiefs, Eagles Set to Make Super Bowl Rematch History in 2023

With the thrilling result in Super Bowl LVII still fresh in the minds of fans everywhere, the Chiefs and Eagles are set for a rematch in 2023—this time in a historic primetime slot.

The two teams are set to square off on Monday Night Football in Week 11, marking just the second time ever that a Super Bowl rematch has taken center stage on Monday. The only other time in league history it’s happened was in 1997, when the Packers and Patriots met in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXI, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

The Chiefs edged the Eagles, 38–35, in last season’s finale thanks to a dramatic comeback engineered by Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was named the game’s MVP for the second time in his career. The Chiefs erased a 10-point halftime deficit by scoring on all four of their second-half possessions, capped by a game-winning 27-yard field goal by Harrison Butker with eight seconds left on the clock.

The defending champs will open the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 7, against the Lions. The NFL will release its full 2023 schedule at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday night.
